Come, Fly with me into the future!

The year on the calendar was 2150; he was staring through the glass pane on the day of his grand-father’s funeral, or rather the day of mourning for the one man who had achieved his dream of unifying the world under one government, as one world nation. He had not witnessed the plights of millions of fighters from the world over who fought for justice against economic oppression and politilical supremacy. He had been born 20 years after the unification process and even now found it difficult to grasp the concepts of boundaries and bondage. Though these words were quite alien to the world that surrounded him at present, he understood the difficulties his own grandparents had faced through the numerous bed side stories he had heard.

A lot had changed in the past 50 years since the world government for which his grandfather Mr.Swaminathan, whose ancestors and cultural values were deep rooted in the heart of TamilNadu, became one among the board of world presidents. Over the past 200 years humanity had witnessed thousands of incidents which can only be classified as nature’s wrath against humanity. The Economic conquerors were not able to mitigate the sufferings faced by their countrymen. The greater the number of disasters, humanity started to raise its head. It was as if God had taught them a lesson and made them realize that a human being was more valuable than a robot.

That very night he was going to travel to a place called “Madurai”, to study ancient Tamil literature and culture. Studying history and archeology were like going to a theatre after the invention of time machines…of course you will not able to change anything as it was just a screen image and you could only act as an observer. Research laboratories on the moon were still working on finding the ultimate means of breaking the time space continuum proposed by the genius of the first millennium, Albert Einstein.

He was on his way to the jewellery shop, the one thing he felt would never change as long as women inhabited earth. Tonight he was going to propose to the girl he had first fallen in love with. He felt as nervous as Oliver felt while proposing to Jennifer in “love story” by Erich Segal, a renowned classic by now! He had butterflies in his stomach and was even rehearsing his lines and posture. Adit or “Kennedy”,as his grandpa fondly called him realized that the only thing that will remain unchanged forever, transcending time and surmounting the plights of reality is the feeling called love.

    Yeah very true ....... "the only thing that will remain unchanged forever, transcending time and surmounting the plights of reality is the feeling called love. "

    Nice one An :-)

    (However I dont think this idea of "unifying the world under one government" is a good one...)

    what i loved abt the post was the hope. Future is all about the hope. Life is all about hope. What we lack is a positive outlook. Why cant we be united. Why cant we transend regional religious boundaries. We can and We will. Stray incidents will always occur.

    Bowled over by this post!!I think your best till now.

    @bka
    We are not divided as a nation, we are divided as individuals

    This Post reminds me of the last line from Terminator 2.
    'For the first time in life we can look into the future with hope.The terminator taught me this ... May be we can make it'- Linda Hamilton...

    When all the states of India were united, it was considered to be a tremendous achievement... But look at the state of affairs in India now. Chaotic wud be a mild word...

    So the unification of the entire world may be a fantasy... but in reality its almost as impossible as India winning the world cup... So many diverse cultures and unifying them is easier said than done... It might probably take more than 1000 years...!! So whoever believes in fantasy.. Best of luck!!!

    @ajay
    200 years back no one thought "India" as one country was possible..."unity in diversity" as Jawaharlal Nehru caled it. Today it stands as the world's largest democracy..

    accepted we do have fights, bickerings, corruption but inspite of all that at the end of the day when the Indian cricket team goes for the worldcup we cheer for them as a nation...we are proud of baichung bhutia,sania mirza,lagaan etc as a country...

    I believe "HOPE" is the true essence of life(it all started when pandora opened her box!)...why can't we as humankind be united??? may be i am ahead of my times but i truly believe there will come a day when we will realize the value of our fellow human beings and learn to be together...

    for those who believe "unity" to be fantasy i would say it is sad that our lives have come to this...

    Awesome post anu!! Well written!! Interestin vision u have:-)
    I would like to show guarded optimism for this vision bcoz wat perceived
    as unbelievable at one point of time becomes existing reality in many
    cases.

    Would love to see a unified world
    controlled by a single governin body !!:-) Given d separations in religion, language n many more in dis world
    it needs a hell lot of jury-riggin which if we take a gander for d moment,
    appears only as a fantasy but over a very long time it can get
    somewhere close..

    Der r several unbeleievable transformations tat had happened.

    For a good measure..

    A real doozy one.. May be a horse of different color fr some who read dis..
    Did d world ever think tat d countries england or france (once where signeurs
    ruled d country n were the kings of der realms..more powerful than a king himself) transform into
    a democracy? No feudal lords of tat time wud ve ever had a thought.. It happened
    but over a long period of time may be a century..The man in d street subjected to feudal miseries
    wud have hoped.

    To hit d high spots ,unified world can be said than to be believed..If so can we see cronies in all divisions of d society?:-)

    Kudos!! Keep more of em comin!!

    @ramesh

    very true, it is the people who transform a nation...

    @navien

    guarded optimism???hmmm well i do understand that the theory is really ahead of its times but if each one of us as individuals practice tolerance, equality, and love for humanity then "unity" as a term can very well be put into practice

    hmmmm.... not a big fan of luv...

    Think that its highly over rated and stretched to very unreal dimensions especially in the new age of cinema...

    People expect too much frm it... Makes them lose touch with reality

    hmmm not that im gr8 fan of love either but i just wanted to say that the conceot called love for an another living being does not change how much ever the world changes from a material or ideological point of view...

    The main idea behind the blog was a united world devoid of boundaries.

    @sesh
    Thx da!!! im glad u agree with atleast one of my blogs :-)

    @cm-chap
